Madonna released “Get into the Groove.” What does it MEAN?
Love it when a sad song still has a beat. Click here.. enjoy
I really hate this. I give myself a dozen personal demerits when I catch myself taunting someone at work with this depressing ode to corporate behavioral protocol.
When someone accidentally says “boobs” instead of “books” or walks in with their fly open, cracks a fat joke or expresses a weird, even borderline sexual, idea—it’s a safe bet that someone in the [conference] room will end up giggling “haha Total HR violation! OMG, David, you’re a like a walking HR violation!”
Beginning today, the phrase is extinguished from my vocabulary. I may even adopt the belief that HR does not exist at all.

A lot has been changing lately. People change, you change, friends move away, you get a new boss at work, you get in a huge fight, you say something damaging, a friend hurts your feelings, you spill some milk and burst into tears. At these times, we all grapple for constants, which can feel frantic if you don’t find one quickly. Its like a chaotic flux until you remember family and what matters most to you, and then you can tell these issues to go to hell.
I used to throw my hands up and declare “I can’t cope” and get hammered with some friends when I didn’t like the way something was going in my life, but now i’m testing a different approach. I drive across the Bay Bridge, and spend some time with my parents and their little dogs. Once you can force yourself to listen to your parents, its comforting to draw from the experience of people who have been alive much longer than you, even if you are very different people living in very different times. It’s also nice to distract yourself with furry little monsters, a gin and tonic, a hot tub, and a home cooked meal.
We’ve all got our own little things that we love about home and family, it’s just easy to get caught up in the bullshit of everyday life, so I think the point of this post is a friendly reminder. Sometimes it’s nice to connect with your family when the shit ISN’T hitting the fan.
